Classic Vanilla Butter Cake with Buttermilk Sauce


 


Ingredients:


 • 2 ½ cups flour

 • 2 ½ tsp baking powder

 • ½ tsp salt

 • 1 cup butter (softened)

 • 1 ¾ cups sugar

 • 4 eggs

 • 1 tbsp vanilla

 • 1 cup buttermilk


Buttermilk Sauce:


 • ½ cup butter

 • 1 cup sugar

 • ½ cup buttermilk

 • 1 tsp vanilla


Instructions:


 1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9x13-inch pan.

 2. Mix flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.

 3. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy, then beat in eggs one at a time. Stir in vanilla.

 4. Add dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with buttermilk.

 5. Pour into pan and bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.

 6. For the sauce, heat butter, sugar, and buttermilk in a saucepan until it boils. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.

 7. Poke holes in the warm cake and pour the sauce over it.
